Agricultural Investment Support Program (AFP)
This support is aimed at farms investing in particularly animal-friendly husbandry (barn construction). In addition, special requirements in the areas of environmental and climate protection must be met. Minister Dr. Habeck signed the AFP guideline amendment, the cornerstones of which are known to interested farmers and advisors, on March 1, 2018. The content revisions include specifications for lying areas for dairy cows (special solutions for small-framed cattle breeds), feeding place width for calves, weight-dependent modification of the exercise area in cattle fattening, adjustment of piglet nest size, and the clarifying definition of pullets with regard to stocking density.

Promotion of Organic Farming Methods
People and the environment benefit from the diverse positive environmental impacts of organic farming. The state government of Schleswig-Holstein has set itself the ambitious goal of doubling the organically farmed area, thereby catching up with the national average. The promotion of organic farming methods is intended to support this.

European Protected Areas in Schleswig-Holstein (Natura 2000)
The wealth of the European Union also includes a multitude of animal and plant species and their habitats – biodiversity. Its importance is not exclusively ecological. Important functions are also evident in economic, social, cultural, educational, and aesthetic terms. We must handle this natural heritage responsibly. Schleswig-Holstein, like all other regions of Europe, bears responsibility for preserving, protecting, and further developing the wild animals, plants, and natural habitats found here.
