Modern and ecological agriculture

[Our focus is on circular systems.]

Soil and climate-friendly management of our fields, with a wide and diverse crop rotation, and animal husbandry focused on the well-being of individual animals.

We are characterized by an open-minded and tolerant team spirit. We also fulfill our social responsibility towards the younger members of our society: these circular systems are made visible in our farm kindergarten.

Strong Partner

[Our self-generated power supply] is funded by the State Program for Business 2021-2027 with resources from the European Regional Development Fund.

The self-generated power supply operates almost entirely without CO2 emissions, as it is powered 100% by its own green electricity.

The Team

We are a team of around 15 members: milkers, tractor drivers, animal keepers, mechanics, and office staff

A whole life

from calf to cow

Our female calves are born here – and remain here: true Backensholzers from the very beginning.

We do not practice dam-rearing. The calves initially grow up in calf igloos in pairs before moving to the calf barn after a few days – with large straw pens and outdoor access.

When their life journey comes to an end, it is done with respect – at familiar butchers from the neighborhood, completely without long transports or stress.

Our Philosophy

[Everything stays in the farm cycle]
The feed for our animals grows on our own land.
The manure from our cows is returned to the fields as natural fertilizer – this way, we close the nutrient cycle without artificial additives.

We also grow grass, clover, corn, and grain ourselves. This way, we know exactly what goes into the feed trough.

We obtain our energy from solar panels and our own biogas plant.

[Lots of comfort and no rush]
Our female animals are born here, grow up here and live their entire lives on the farm.

Calves first live in pairs in calf igloos and then move into the large calf barn with group pens. The barn for the dairy cows was built in 2017 in cooperation with the FH Kiel and offers a lot of comfort. Despite the nice barn, the rule is: as soon as a cow can go out to pasture, she does!

If an animal has to be slaughtered, this happens at small butchers in the neighborhood – without long transports or stress.

[Transparency]
The farm is an organic farming demonstration farm.

This means you can come by at any time and without prior notice to see for yourself.

The farm gates are open! Come by and get to know the farm.
